Best Practice Management Software for Therapists in India (2026)

An honest comparison of PractiPal, Therasoft India, LifeHetu, SimplePractice, and Therapy Manager for Indian therapy practices — pricing in INR, UPI support, invoicing, and who each tool actually fits.

The short answer: if you run a solo or small therapy practice in India and want the lowest-friction start, Therapy Manager (free for up to 10 clients, then ₹999–2,499/month) and PractiPal (₹1,499–1,899/month as of mid-2026, per published pricing) are the two tools built most directly around Indian workflows — INR pricing, UPI, and WhatsApp. Therasoft India makes sense if you prefer paying per appointment instead of a monthly fee. SimplePractice is a polished, mature product, but it is built for the US market — USD-only pricing and no UPI, WhatsApp, or Indian invoicing workflows — which makes it a poor practical fit for most Indian practices.

Full disclosure:we build Therapy Manager, so read our take on our own product with that in mind. Everything we say about other tools is based on their public websites and published pricing as of mid-2026 — features and prices change, so verify on their sites before deciding. We’ve tried to give every tool honest credit for what it does well.

What actually matters for an Indian practice

Most “best practice management software” lists are written for American therapists, where the hard problems are insurance claims and HIPAA paperwork. An Indian private practice has a different daily reality:

  • Payments arrive over UPI— often as ad-hoc transfers that don’t map neatly to one session. Your software needs to handle lump-sum payments and running balances, not just card-on-file billing.
  • Clients live on WhatsApp.Invoices and reminders sent anywhere else often simply don’t get seen.
  • Pricing needs to be in rupees. A $49–99/month subscription is ₹4,000–8,500/month at mid-2026 exchange rates — for many Indian practices that is more than the software problem is worth.
  • Invoicing needs to fit Indian record-keeping— numbered, dated, itemized invoices you can hand to your CA at tax time (and GST records if you’re registered — see our GST guide for therapists).

Therapy Manager — built inside a real Indian practice

Therapy Manager exists because our founder, a practicing psychotherapist in India, was losing hours every week to spreadsheets. It covers the core loop of a therapy practice: a client roster, a weekly session calendar, billing that understands cancellations and no-shows, earnings views, and numbered, itemized invoices generated as PDFs and delivered to clients by email and WhatsApp automatically.

  • Pricing: free for up to 10 clients and 500 sessions — genuinely free, no card required. Starter is ₹999/month (50 clients), Pro is ₹2,499/month (unlimited). Payments via UPI and cards.
  • Billing that matches reality: record lump-sum UPI payments against a running balance, or mark specific sessions paid. Surpluses carry forward as credit on the next invoice — and your cancellation and no-show policy is applied automatically.
  • Invoices your CA will like: sequential invoice numbers, dates, line-itemed sessions, and stored history — a clean paper trail for Indian tax record-keeping.
  • Where it’s honest to say we’re lighter: there’s no client-facing booking portal or insurance module. If you need those today, look at the alternatives below.

PractiPal — WhatsApp-first scheduling

PractiPal leans hard into the way Indian clients actually communicate: WhatsApp. Booking, reminders, and payment collection are designed around WhatsApp and UPI flows, which is genuinely the right instinct for this market. As of mid-2026, per their published pricing, plans run roughly ₹1,499–1,899/month. If your practice’s biggest pain is appointment coordination and no-shows — rather than billing reconciliation — PractiPal deserves a serious look. It is aimed at appointment-based practices broadly, so some therapy-specific touches (session notes, per-client fee history) may feel more generic.

Therasoft India — pay per appointment

Therasoft India’s pricing model is its most interesting feature: instead of a flat monthly fee, you pay per appointment — roughly ₹59–129 depending on the plan, as of mid-2026, per their published pricing. For a therapist seeing a handful of clients a week, that can work out cheaper than any subscription; for a busy practice it can end up costing more than a flat plan. Do the arithmetic on your actual weekly session count before choosing. It’s an India-based product, so INR pricing and local payment expectations are handled.

LifeHetu — practice tools plus a wellness platform

LifeHetu positions itself as a broader mental-wellness platform for Indian practitioners — practice tools combined with a client-facing layer. If being discoverable on a platform matters to you as a source of new clients, that bundling is a real advantage that pure practice-management tools (ours included) don’t offer. Their published pricing and plan structure have shifted over time, so check their site directly for current details.

SimplePractice — excellent software, wrong market

SimplePractice is arguably the most mature therapy practice software in the world, with deep features: client portals, telehealth, insurance claims, extensive documentation templates. If you run a US practice, it’s a default choice for good reason — that credit is fully deserved.

The problem for Indian therapists is fit, not quality. As of mid-2026, per its published pricing, SimplePractice charges in USD only — roughly $49–99/month — and its billing stack is built around US cards and US insurance. There is no UPI support, no WhatsApp delivery of invoices or reminders, and no Indian invoicing formats. You’d be paying a premium in dollars for insurance features you can’t use, while the features an Indian practice actually needs daily aren’t there. We wrote a fuller breakdown in our SimplePractice alternative comparison.

How to choose (a 5-minute test)

  • Count your weekly sessions. Under ~10/week, favour free or per-appointment pricing (Therapy Manager free tier, Therasoft). Above that, flat monthly pricing gets cheaper.
  • Name your biggest pain. Scheduling chaos and no-shows → PractiPal. Money tracking, unpaid balances, and invoices → Therapy Manager. Client acquisition → LifeHetu.
  • Test the money flow with one real client. Record a UPI lump-sum payment, generate an invoice, send it on WhatsApp. If a tool makes any of those steps awkward, it will be awkward forever.
Every tool here has a free trial or free tier. The honest advice — even as the people who make one of these products — is to run your real client list through two of them for a week. The right choice is usually obvious within days.
